Screw Pumps

How it works

The screw pump is mainly composed of a pump casing and one or more screws. When the screw rotates, the sealed chamber formed between the screw and the pump casing will continue to move forward, thereby gradually pushing the liquid from the suction end to the discharge end to achieve the purpose of liquid transportation. Just like a rotating screw propeller, it continuously pushes the liquid along the axial direction of the screw to achieve the purpose of fluid transport.

Structural features

Screw structure: The screw is the core component of the screw pump, usually in single screw, double screw, three screw and other forms. The shape of the screw of the single screw pump is relatively special, similar to a huge screw, which forms a sealed chamber between it and the bushing; the double screw pump is composed of two intermeshing screws, which form a sealed space between them and the pump casing; the three screw pump is composed of three intermeshing screws, and the active screw in the middle drives the driven screws on both sides to rotate to realize the liquid delivery. Different types of screws are suitable for different working conditions and media.

Pump casing design: The pump casing is generally cylindrical, usually made of cast iron, stainless steel and other materials, with good pressure resistance and corrosion resistance. The internal matching accuracy with the screw is high to ensure sealing performance and efficient liquid delivery.

Sealing device: In order to prevent liquid leakage, the screw pump usually adopts mechanical seals, packing seals and other sealing methods at the shaft seal. Mechanical seals have good sealing performance and long service life, but the cost is relatively high; packing seals have simple structure and low cost, but require regular maintenance and replacement of packing.

Performance characteristics

Stable flow: The flow of the screw pump is proportional to the speed of the screw. At a stable speed, it can provide a relatively stable flow output, which is not affected by pressure changes. It is particularly suitable for process flows that require precise and stable flow.

Wide pressure range: Depending on the different models and structures, the screw pump can withstand pressures in different ranges, and can generally achieve a higher discharge pressure, which is suitable for various medium and high pressure fluid delivery occasions.

Strong self-priming ability: The screw pump has good self-priming performance and can suck liquid by itself without the help of

external auxiliary equipment. It is easy and quick to start, especially suitable for some application scenarios that need to be started without perfusion conditions.

· Petrochemical industry: used to transport various petroleum products such as crude oil, heavy oil, lubricating oil, diesel, as well as chemical raw materials, polymer solutions, resins and other chemical media, playing an important role in oil extraction, refining, chemical production and other links.
