PAM Flocculant
Flocculants, are essential in wastewater treatment processes. They are used to enhance solid-liquid separation, improving the efficiency of primary sedimentation, flotation, and secondary sedimentation following the activated sludge process. Additionally, flocculants are widely applied in tertiary or advanced wastewater treatment to further purify the water.
Conditions for use of PAM
1、PAM is used for flocculation after the coagulation reaction of aluminum salts and iron salts is completed; its dosage should usually be less than 0.3~0.5mg/L, and the addition point is at the end of the reaction tank.
2、PAM should be equipped with a dedicated dissolution (hydrolysis) device, the dissolution time should be controlled within 45~60 min, the reagent concentration should be less than 2%, the hydrolysis time should be 12~24 h, and the hydrolysis degree should be 30%~40%.
3、PAM cannot be used for more than 48 hours after the dissolution configuration is completed.
4、Antifreeze measures should be considered when PAM is stored at room temperature.
Selection of flocculation reaction equipment
1、 Selecting an appropriate reaction tank type depends upon sewage quality, operating experience in similar conditions or via experiments.
2)、Common types of reaction tanks used in wastewater treatment are vertical flow folded plate reaction tank, grid (bar) reaction tank and mechanical reaction tank.
3、Vertical flow folded plate reaction tanks are widely utilized and suitable for large and medium-sized sewage treatment plants with minimal fluctuations in water volume changes.
4、Grid (bar) reaction tanks are ideal for treating small to medium-sized sewage, and may be built together with sedimentation or flotation tanks for flocculation treatment. Unfortunately, however, they do not suit sewage containing more fiber or oil materials.
5、Mechanical reaction tanks are suitable for treating both small- to mid-sized sewage and industrial wastewater, and can be combined with sedimentation tank or flotation tank to treat larger loads. Hydraulic conditions can easily be adjusted according to changes in water quality or volume changes; agent addition points can also be adjusted according to reaction effect for maximum flocculation effectiveness.
6、Cyclone reaction tanks and vortex reaction tanks are an ideal choice in instances when both water quality and volume remain consistent.
